Introduction

The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and Fundación Popular, Inc., aware of their responsibility towards society and united in their vision and mission of contributing to the moral development, social and human, economic, institutional, and environmental progress of the Dominican nation, have established the "Alejandro E. Grullón E." Sustainability Chair.

With this chair, both institutions formalize a long-term strategic alliance, in order to promote research, the transmission of knowledge and the training of future professionals in areas of knowledge as important as social responsibility and the sustainable development of organizations. .

At the same time, the chair is a recognition of the professional and human trajectory of the inspirer and founder of Banco Popular Dominicano and Grupo Popular, Mr. Alejandro E. Grullón E.", and of his legacy to the Dominican nation as an exemplary committed citizen with the highest values ​​and interests of Dominicanness.

 General Objective

Create an academic space for reflection, discussion and analysis, which facilitates an open dialogue between business leaders, academics, the public sector and members of civil society, around corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the Dominican Republic.

 

Specific objectives

  1. Promote knowledge and dissemination of corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the public space, through the development of courses and research and training programs, organization of conferences, congresses, and seminars, with the presence of national and international specialists.
  2. Promote the application of policies and strategies of corporate social responsibility and sustainability within the management of companies.
  3. Promote the creation of a culture of corporate social responsibility in companies and institutions and encourage the study and debate of social responsibility policies that guide the processes of sustainable development of the nation.
  4. Support publications on topics related to corporate social responsibility and sustainability, highlighting successful local experiences.
  5. Convert this space into a national reference, in relation to issues of ethics, social responsibility and sustainability in business and, with this, contribute to the promotion and rescue of those moral values ​​that make up a civic ethic.

 

 Cátedra's Activities 

  1. Offer a Master's program in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, a double degree with the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain, with a duration of two years, aimed at professionals from different areas of the knowledge, who wish to be trained for the management of corporate social responsibility and sustainability in companies and other organizations.
  2. Offer a diploma and specialization course in corporate social responsibility and sustainability, aimed at professionals interested in obtaining specialized training in the most important aspects of corporate social responsibility and sustainability for its application in the companies or organizations where they work.
  3. Carry out, every two years, a study on the perception of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, carried out by the Permanent Observatory of Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (OPERSE). This observatory was established in 2008 at PUCMM and will be attached as an integral part of the chair.
  4. Periodically offer conferences, forums and workshops with the participation of international and national experts that provide an open space for dialogue, reflection and analysis, among business leaders, academics, the public sector, NGOs and other members of civil society, around corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and the environment.
  5. Maintain a free access web portal, in which the activities of the chair, the schedule of courses, conferences, forums and workshops will be made available to the interested public, as well as videos on conferences and specialized material generated by the chair . Important documents from international organizations specialized in the area of ​​corporate social responsibility and sustainability will also be provided, along with the necessary links to contact them.
