Dialogue on artificial intelligence and Sustainable Development Goals held
Santo Domingo, R.D.- The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E.", of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Popular Foundation, held the discussion "Dialogue on CSR: Impact of artificial intelligence on the Sustainable Development Goals".
During the meeting, Dr. Cristóbal Miralles Insa, professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, expressed that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent a historic opportunity to unite countries and embark on new paths towards the future, while seeking to reduce poverty. , promoting prosperity, protecting the environment and addressing climate change globally.
In addition, Miralles contextualized the moral dilemmas that the design and use of optimization algorithms have always raised, to then reflect on the disruptive moment in which we find ourselves, where Artificial Intelligence algorithms are making decisions in many areas without due transparency or precautions. necessary. Through multiple examples, their possible current and potential negative impacts were evaluated, as well as the opportunities that they may represent for the achievement of the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, if they are correctly applied.
