Valencia, España. –Within the framework of the Master's Degree in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) organized an international technical visit, in which the third edition of the course "Success Stories and Good Practices of Social Responsibility in Spain" was taught, from October 24 to 28, 2022.
The graduates of the third and fourth cohorts participated in seminars given by directors of companies from organizations recognized for their good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, among which the following stand out: Fundación de Estudios Bursátiles y Financieros de Valencia, Centro Especial de Empleo Espurna, Picansa, Bancaja Foundation, Business Association of Services for Dependent People (AERTE), Port of Valencia, ValenciaPort Foundation, Iberdrola, Consum, ETNOR Foundation, and Polytechnic City of Innovation of the UPV.
During the closing ceremony and the delivery of diplomas, Professor Juan Juliá, University Professor and Rector of the UPV (2005-2013) and deputy vice-president of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), gave the conference "Retos of the university system in the 21st century: New governance and excellence with soul”.
This ceremony was chaired by Ignacio Gil Pechuán, director of the Permanent Training Area, on behalf of the UPV's Vice Chancellor for Employment and Permanent Training, Mª Dolores Salvador Moya. In addition, the Consul of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Valencia, Romina Catherine León Santos; the director of the Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E.", Angye Rincón Castillos; and the project manager of the Popular Foundation, Dabeiba Agramonte Martínez.
In this act, Professor Gabriel García, director of the Master's Degree at the UPV, highlighted the privilege of "contributing to this already consolidated training initiative, together with the faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, with whom it has been a privilege to share this project and to whom I want to convey our gratitude”.
The director of the Permanent Training Area, Ignacio Gil, in his closing remarks pointed out that "thanks to initiatives such as these we are corroborating that a systematic and rigorous training of professionals who have the appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities for responsible management is essential of the organizations. Both the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and the Polytechnic University of Valencia have identified this need, with the teaching of the Master's Degree in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. We hope that this collaboration continues over time."
The course was coordinated by the Center for Research Management in Business Management (CEGEA) of the UPV and included 30 contact hours of teaching and lectures.
About the Master
Since 2015, the PUCMM and the UPV, with a scholarship program sponsored by the Popular Foundation, through the "Alejandro E. Grullón E." Sustainability Chair, offer the first Master's Program in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability in the country.
The objective of this Master's Degree is to analyze the concepts and multiple dimensions of CSR and Sustainability, emphasizing the design and application of management and evaluation tools, necessary to implement and integrate CSR and Sustainability at the different levels of a company or organization. The teaching staff of the program is made up of professors and specialists of high academic level from the UPV and PUCMM. It is taught with a double degree with the UPV.
