PUCMM celebrates 107 graduation in Santiago

With this ceremony, the house of higher studies has graduated 95,425 professionals in its 60 years of foundation

Santiago-. DR. The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) celebrated its one hundred and seventh graduation from the Santiago Campus, in which the first graduates of the PUCMM Estudios en Líneas program and the Specialty in Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain stand out.

The Reverend Father Dr. Secilio Espinal, PUCMM Rector, expressed that "it is a great challenge and a challenge to promote critical thinking, without neglecting the being, the dignity and the values of the people", offering the words of Welcome and introduce the guest speaker.

Likewise, he invited the graduates to raise the flag of hope and place their trust in the present and future, to favor critical thinking that allows discerning what is appropriate and from an ethical perspective fosters a culture of dialogue that is the guarantee of peace and justice.

The guest speaker was Dr. Milton Ray Guevara, president of the Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic, who said "it is noteworthy that many of our highly qualified graduates emigrate to other countries in what is usually called "brain drain" to continue growing and developing abroad, more, however, I am convinced that each one of their hearts flutters when the glorious notes of the National Anthem are heard or our tricolor flag is hoisted. The Dominican homeland needs you."

Judge Guevara assured that “this is not the same country of the last century. We have grown economically, in population, in infrastructure, in technology, in science and innovation, in educational and job opportunities”, to which he drew applause from those present.

Of the 791 professionals who graduate in this ceremony, 475 are women for 60.05% and 316 are men, which represents 39.95%. In that same order, a total of 513 of 43 careers offered in the Faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (33.25), Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences (27.31), Faculty of Sciences and Engineering (21.24) received undergraduate degrees. ), Faculty of Health Sciences, (17.32).

Similarly, 271 professionals graduated as specialists or master's degrees, after having completed one of the 27 postgraduate programs offered by the academy, among which are: Master's Degree in Architectural Design, Interior Architecture Concentration, Master's Degree in Speech Pathologies and of Speech, Master's Degree in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology, Master's Degree in Project Management, Master's Degree in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.

At this graduation, the graduates Alda Iris Reyes Santiago, Carmen Bienvenida Blanc Knipping, Delffin Rafael Peralta Familia, Griselda Torres Acevedo, Rahisy De La Cruz Dolores, and Vilma Licena Mejía Soto received their Master's degrees in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.

Wellington Pérez Colón, who has a congenital disability, was the graduate who aroused the greatest amount of applause from all those present for his achievements as a sign of admiration, who received his Bachelor's degree in Social Communication concentration audiovisual production, from the rector, of the academy and the director of the faculty.

Columbus, who since his birth has not had his limbs, today sees his dreams come true, a condition that did not imply a limit to achieve his dreams and to continue advancing in his studies.

At graduation, Grupo Therrestra presented the prize for Academic Excellence to the young Víctor José Guzmán Núñez, a graduate of Civil Engineering, a check for the amount of RD$500,000 pesos to contribute to the direct payment of the educational loan and an immediate job offer from the president of the company, engineer Hugo Pérez Ovalles.

                                             

Honor graduate Avril Mena, a Law graduate, who spoke on behalf of her classmates and her own, said “today a chapter ends, but the story continues. Great challenges are approaching, and with it, great achievements. Let's always embrace the beautiful memory of what we were and did, and let's get our best strengths out of the worst moments. Society waits for us, capable young people with values; Let's show him what we're made of."

The graduation ceremony took place on Saturday, February 11, at the PUCMM Multipurpose Hall, Santiago Campus, and was broadcast on the PUCMMTV YouTube channel.
