PUCMM, SUPERATE and Fundación Popular sign collaboration agreement

Santo Domingo, RD. – The government project Social Innovation Accelerator Supérate (SUPÉRATE) and the "Alejandro E. Grullón E." Sustainability Chair, an initiative of the Popular Foundation and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), signed a collaboration agreement to promote the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Dominican Republic.

The parties committed to developing training programs with the objective of training the participants of the chair, empowering them with the competencies, skills and knowledge that enable them to manage and implement sustainability issues.

For these purposes, the acting rector of PUCMM, Dr. David Álvarez, affirmed that with the signing of this agreement a firm step is taken in the development of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, which this university supports through of various projects.

Dr. José Mármol, executive vice president of Public Relations and Communications of Grupo Popular and vice president of the Board of Directors of Fundación Popular, described expanding the scope of the goals of the chair as an added value, through the SUPÉRATE Social Innovation Accelerator , while expressing that "this project has the technical assistance of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and is an ideal platform to grow this synergy."

For her part, the general director of SUPÉRATE, Gloria Reyes, stressed that the entities involved "assume the commitment to promote the transfer of knowledge in the private sector, seeking to provide tools that allow productive activity to maximize benefits, increasing the well-being of all and everyone".

Inka Mattila, UNDP resident representative, shared that, in these uncertain times, the 2030 Agenda serves as a compass for nations globally and that proposals such as these make it possible to close knowledge gaps in countries like the Dominican Republic.

The activity took place on Monday, October 11, 2021, on the Santo Domingo campus of PUCMM. The event was attended by Angye Rincón, director of the "Alejandro E. Grullón E." Sustainability Chair; Mariel Bera, vice president of the Public Relations Area of Grupo Popular; Dabeiba Agramonte, manager of the Fundación Popular's Projects Division; Adib Bachá and Arlene Trinidad, respectively, general coordinator and technical coordinator of the SUPÉRATE Social Innovation Accelerator.
