Santo Domingo, R.D.- The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E." from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Popular Foundation, held the virtual discussion “Human rights in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)”.

In the welcoming remarks, Angye Rincón, director of the chair, indicated that this dialogue seeks to expose how "within the voluntary nature of corporate social responsibility, human rights are becoming its essential core."

In his dissertation, Dr. Juan Battaller Grau, professor of commercial law at the University of Valencia, stated that, when speaking of Human Rights, it is necessary to highlight a set of elements in which are found regional treaties and the Declaration Universal of Human Rights.

Likewise, he stressed that Human Rights, originally, seek to defend the human being against the State. However, in CSR, Human Rights seek to protect the human being against the business environment, this is because CSR implies developing policies that go beyond state regulations.

The dialogue, broadcast through a virtual platform on Friday, November 19, 2021, was attended by students from the Master's degree in Corporate Social Responsibility and professionals interested in the area.
