PUCMM and ECORED sign agreement

Santo Domingo, RD. – The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the National Business Support Network for Environmental Protection (ECORED) signed an agreement with the purpose of carrying out initiatives in favor of sustainable development, promoting good consumption and production practices in harmony with the environment and compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

By signing this agreement, ECORED and PUCMM join forces to promote the incorporation of principles of Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable development in the study plans, jointly define an internship program at ECORED or with its companies for students of the academy.

Within the framework of the activity, Father Secilio Espinal, rector of the Mother and Teacher, highlighted the importance of promoting the care of Mother Nature, for which PUCMM, with the support of ECORED, will work to strengthen, convert, development and ecological awareness. "It is better to educate than then have to assume the consequences," said Espinal.

Next, Mariel Bera, president of ECORED, thanked the university for the agreement, while highlighting: "We maintain the commitment of the business sector to promote these initiatives and we are pleased to be part of the PUCMM team to achieve together the commitment they already had with environmental sustainability”, said Bera.

Also present at the activity were the doctors from PUCMM: Iluminada Severino, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance; David Álvarez, Academic Vice Chancellor; Juan Faxas, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation; Mariano Rodríguez, dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts; Ana Bélgica Guichardo, director of the School of Communication, and Angye Rincón, director of the “Alejandro E. Grullón E.” Sustainability Chair.

On behalf of ECORED, the following attended: Dania Heredia, Vice President; María Alicia Urbaneja, executive director; and Nathaly Uribe, in charge of Sustainability.

The event took place on Tuesday, March 23, in the PUCMM Rectory room, Santo Domingo campus.
