Specialization Course in Public-Private Partnerships for Sustainable Development in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo. –

The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E." and the Center for Technology and Permanent Education (TEP) launched the Specialization Course in Public-Private Partnerships for Sustainable Development in the Dominican Republic, an academic program to promote collaboration and mobilization of the public and private sectors and strengthen capacities nationals.

The 48 attendees of this course will have the opportunity to attend discussion panels on financing alliances and the tools developed in the United Nations System, and in the same way they will learn about good work practices under the alliance approach.

The objective is to have national representatives fully trained to address integral processes of sustainable development, which cover the economic, environmental, social and territorial dimensions in the country.

The teachers who will teach the different subjects have extensive experience, both nationally and internationally. Said faculty is made up of Rafael Berigüete, Alejandro Langlois (Costa Rica), Ariel Uceta, Carlos Pared Vidal, Doris Arévalo (Colombia), Jaime Ariel Pérez, Jeniffer Hanna Collado, José Luis Actis, José Miguel Hidalgo (Chile), Nelly Cuello , Rafael Dickson Morales, Raúl Tolmos (Peru) and Roberto Guerrero Castillo.

Participants in this specialized course include officials from the Ministries of Economy, Planning and Development, Finance, Environment and Natural Resources and Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, the National Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships and the Progressing with Solidarity Program (PROSOLI ), the National Council for Private Enterprise (CONEP), the Popular Group, the Council for the Strategic Development of Santiago, the Grupo Puntacana Foundation, AES Dominicana, the Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers, the Martí Group, the Association of Industrialists of the Northern Region, Fiduciaria Universal, Fondo de Agua Yaque del Norte, Association for Development, Inc. (APEDI), FALCONDO, Fundación NTD, Junior Achievement Dominicana, among other institutions.

This academic program will take place from February 11 to April 29, 2021, in virtual mode. It is cosponsored by the Popular Foundation, the Progresando con Solidaridad Program of the Presidency of the Republic, Grupo Universal, Grupo Ramos, and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E." is an initiative of the Popular Foundation and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). It is a pioneering academic initiative in the country, with the aim of providing Dominican companies and institutions with the necessary knowledge and tools to integrate sustainable and socially responsible models of action, which guarantee a balanced development of the Dominican Republic.
