PUCMM and Grupo Popular hold a meeting with master's students

The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E.", of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Popular Foundation, held a meeting with the students of the Fourth Cohort of the "Master's in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" program ) and Sustainability”. The Fourth Cohort is made up of the students: Alda Iris Reyes Santiago, Alfredo Logroño Rodríguez, Alina Victoria Flores Ballester, Ana Isabel Rojas Fortuna, Carmen Bienvenida Blanc Knipping, Delffin Rafael Peralta Familia, Emilia Deshire Ramos Díaz, Griselda Torres Acevedo, Lucidami Mercedes Suárez Neris, Maileny Alexandra Abréu Olmos, Miguel Ángel Hernández Haché, Rahisy De La Cruz, Silvia Paola Lora Padrón, Vilma Licena Mejía Soto, and Yara María Hernández Gutiérrez.

Mrs. Angye Rincón, director of the chair, welcomed the students and the managers of the Popular Group. At the meeting, Mrs. Mariel Bera, Vice President of Communications and Public Relations of Banco Popular, presented the sustainability and responsible banking strategy of the financial group. Bera stated that the purpose of this strategy "is to contribute to the social, environmental and economic development of the country, adding value to our interest groups through socially responsible management, which generates trust and promotes inclusion and financial education". In addition, Ella Bera highlighted that sustainability is an important generator of business opportunities for many economic sectors and it is necessary for companies to embrace it transversally in their long-term development plan. Finally, Bera explained how CSR and Sustainability generate "a reputational capital cushion for the company and the brand, which is used in future opportunities and helps manage reputational risk, safeguarding current assets." Mr. Elías Dinzey, general manager of the Popular Foundation, continued with the explanation of the sustainability strategy, highlighting the impact that its implementation has had.

The event took place on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the PUCMM Santo Domingo campus. Also present at the meeting were the graduates of the second cohort, Leonel Ng, Community Relations Manager at Banco Popular, and Joan Rey, founder and director of RDSostenible Magazine.

About the Master in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability

Its objective is to analyze the concepts and multiple dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, emphasizing the design and application of management and evaluation tools, necessary to implement and integrate Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at different levels of a company. or organization. It is taught with a double degree with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).
