Santo Domingo, R.D.- February 12, 2021- The Chair of Sustainability "Alejandro E. Grullón E." held the Dialogue on Corporate Social Responsibility: Betting on community development: forging sustainable alliances given by Amanda Satterwhite, technical support in the area of monitoring, evaluation and learning to the Local Development Program (Local Works) of the State Agency United States for Development (USAID), and Aneliya Nikolova, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and environmental project management specialist with USAID's Office of Sustainable Economic and Environmental Development (SEED), the Mr. Xavier Hernández, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Mrs. Margareth Flórez, Executive Director of RedEAmérica.

At the beginning of the webinar, Mrs. Margareth Flórez, who served as moderator, highlighted the challenges and effects that the COVID 19 pandemic has generated in Latin America. Ms. Amanda Satterwhite indicated that the main objective of the Local Works program is to advance the development of local leadership on issues of sustainability and water management. In turn, Ms. Aneliya Nikolova communicated that, in order to achieve sustainable or lasting results, USAID is changing its approach with local authors to understand the factors that affect access to basic services. Nikolova stated “Listen, understand local perspectives and dynamics is key to generating solutions that respond to local needs”.

Lastly, Mr. Xavier Hernández presented the SDG Localization Strategy, stating that "localizing the SDGs means adapting the global agenda to the characteristics and circumstances of each territory, taking into account its potential from the objectives and goals to the determination of the means of implementation and the use of indicators to measure and monitor the progress made”.
